Sugar Photography

Voted Dallas' favorite family photographer (dallas child magazine)

Welcome to The Sweet Life blog!

This little blog is where our fabulous families are showcased after each and every session. Scroll down to soak up the eye candy that can only come from photographing what truly are the sweetest kids in Dallas.

This is the new version of our blog, and we are thrilled that each of our 2+ years of blog posts have made the transition. However, our favorite links still need to be added...which we'll be sure and tackle...as soon as we've taken a deep breath and detoxed from the fun that comes from setting up a new/old blog. Phew!

In the meantime-bookmark us, let us know what you think, and come back often! We always love to hear your comments too, so don't be shy.

Lucy + Annie

One more from OC, CA…we were lucky enough to snap these before the rain hit Sunday morning…SO GLAD! These sisters (and their cute mom) really helped make our trip as amazing as it was!

Sassy Annie (who has the BEST crazy-funny, always makes me giggle, laugh)

Lucy Goosie (with her world famous stinky Uggs…guaranteed to empty a minivan of Been There, Done That moms in under five minutes)

Sophie

Sugar headed to California this weekend (details are HERE), and while there we were able to squeeze in a quick session with the powerhouse that is Jayneoni Moore and her beautiful Sophie.

I have to laugh because Sophie wasn’t exactly feeling it, and I am quite sure that after the craziness that was our session her mom thought I was either completely nuts or a total Pollyanna (as I kept telling her “I PROMISE I’m getting some good ones. PROMISE!”. Who knows how to work a nap-ready toddler better than a mommy who has one of her own?

I’ve always been a huge fan of the big-eyed, somber look…LOVE THIS GIRL (her eyes are AMAZING):

Jayneoni is putting together donations of baby supplies (including formula and diapers) for Haiti…if you can donate, please do!

Cloe

This afternoon was a GREAT time. I met with Cloe for her Senior session, and it was such a nice change of pace. She’s an incredible dancer, and I had the best time collaborating with what she had in mind and adding my own little twist. We had a ball, and I’m pretty sure we scored the only unmowed field in all of Dallas.

Of course we HAD to drag out the tutu and toe shoes! You didn’t think we’d leave them at home, did you?

I think it was about here that a guy jogged by with his dog. I’m crouched in the dirt, racing the setting sun and trying to manually focus while telling Cloe “DO NOT MOVE” when he stops to chat, and his dog decides to investigate my ear. Nice, huh? He was actually really sweet, and commented that he’s run by this spot “over a hundred times”, but had “never seen anything like THIS”. I think we made his day ;)

Photographers-here’s how sweet the light was…this is SOOC (straight out of the camera), edges burned just slightly. AMAZING LIGHT.

(Oh, and can’t forget our assistant. Cloe’s awesome sister came too. She waved the reflector around and created wind. Let’s not forget to applaud Hallie! *APPLAUSE*…photos of Hallie wielding the reflector will be left UNposted, if she promises to not post the ones she snapped of me crouched in the dirt. Deal? Deal. I’m glad we had this talk.)

Caden + Jade

Yesterday afternoon we braved the (warmer, but still brrrr!) chilly weather and hit the back alleys of Deep Ellum for Jade and Caden’s session. These two kids? Total troopers.

I had the best time with these two…they were so easy to play with, quick to laugh, and quicker to love on each other and their cute parents.

Jade had THE best expressions:

I’m realizing now that I grabbed a slew of images to show for their sneak peek that are all of Jade’s awesomely funny faces. I *promise* that I grabbed a few of her happy self too. Just look:

But once she’s done, she’s DONE (her ‘bottom was cold’…mine was too. I don’t blame her!)

I hope you guys were able to snag that hot chocolate at dinner! I think I’ve developed a craving for it after hearing Jade tell me all about why she loves her some hot chocolate. It tastes like chocolate! But HOT! LOL. Love these kids!

Happy Holidays!

Our family holiday card was an absolute last-minute, mommy-got-a-wild-hair, here-kids-eat-some-chocolate, wild and crazy event. Literally, at noon on the Tuesday BEFORE the kids’ class parties (which is always my personal deadline for our cards) I hit up The Gap, wandered around for over an hour cursing the photographer that was making me dress my three kids for a photo shoot (oh, wait…that was ME), and started bribing them from the minute they came home from school.

It had all the makings of a disaster…Coco was exhausted and hadn’t napped. The light was fading FAST. Husband was out of town. Big kids had both had big days at school. And MOST OF ALL-I forgot Coco’s shoes.

But once I’m up against a deadline, we do or die. And so, we did.

Back (because I MUST always include a photo of someone either a) crying, or b) pulling down their pants. This year, we went with crying.).

I LOOOOVED the final card, they arrived in time to hand out that Friday, and the kids declared it the best afternoon of their WHOLE LIVES. LOL

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone. We hope you have a wonderful night, and an even better year!

XO,

Jen and Family
