4.

I am now the mommy of a 4 year old boy.  And I could seriously eat him with a spoon.

So darn cute, spirited, sweet and just plain yummy.

He’s adjusting to life as a middle child, and we no longer want to pull our hair out.

Happy Birthday Man!

Louis…

Louis brought his parents back to Sugar for an urban session today and we had a great time tramping to my favorite little spots for shooting in Deep Ellum.

This little guy has grown so much from last year, and when I saw these blue eyes and curls peeking out from his carseat, I swooned.

YUMMY!

Then, when his parents pulled out his fireman helmet and offered to take off his shirt, I did a mental “SQUEEEEE!”

But when his parents started smooching behind me and this laugh bubbled up? I died and went to heaven…RIGHT THERE ON THE SPOT.

Thanks Louis for dragging your cute parents back to Big D for your session!  You’re going to have THE coolest holiday cards on the block!

And this concludes this week of crazy shooting!  Don’t worry, I’ll be back next week (starting Tuesday) with more SWEET families ;)  But I get four days off to rest my shutter finger, play with my kids, hang with friends, and enjoy our last few days as a family of 4.  We’ll be in the hill country for a long weekend, and will be raring to go again when we get back!  We have 7 sessions to shoot next week (in 3 days…this will be interesting), and the week after has our last 2 days of shooting for the season. Then…BABY TIME! ( and if you haven’t seen our nursery pics…take a look!)

Who knows…maybe I’ll get ‘the call’ this weekend and get to hightail it back to Dallas. Wouldn’t that make for an awesome tale?

6.

Happy Birthday sweet Sam!  I know you’re excited about the big 6.0, your missing teeth (especially the two front ones), and Kindergarten. But do me a little favor? SLOW DOWN. You are growing and changing too fast, and I can’t keep up.

Love you!

Taking a break…

Sugar is taking one last hiatus before the crazy holiday season begins.  We’ll be closed until Monday, August 18th.  So if you email or call and don’t hear back right away, trust us, it’s nothing personal ;)

My family is hitting the beach in Florida, and I’m excited to have a full week of no work to look forward to.  Which is good, because the amount of work I did NOT get done before leaving tomorrow is sky high and overwhelming…and it will allllll be waiting for me upon my return!

And in case you’re in the mood for some fun news-pop over to our adoption blog…we’ve been matched and are just over the moon with happiness.  Baby is due mid-October!

This is good to know BECAUSE it’s going to shrink our holiday shooting season by two weeks, and we’ll stop booking sessions for the year after October 15th.  So book now (Call Mindy at 214.315.9459 or mindy@sugar-photography.com), and help us welcome our newest addition into the family!

Random happiness…

We are tired, sunburned, and oh-so-happy after a “weekend” at the lake with our nearest and dearest.  Dubbed The Posse by Minivan Mom herself, this weekend was the first of our now annual treks to LBJ Lake with our families in tow.

As I sit down over the next two days to prepare to edit 6 sessions and photograph a total of 4 newborns (three at once!), I realize just how behind and buried I am.  Which means, I can’t play with the photos we snapped this weekend like I want to. *pout, gnash, humph*

So I limited myself to playing with just one from each of the three sessions we did while at the lake.

Enjoy!

Minivan mom’s youngest, sweet Lucy.

The Franklin Five (sorry-but WHAT IS UP with the washed out colors on these???)

And the sweet, sweet love between two blogging (and real life) buddies, Maggie from Mama’s on a Playdate and Hopper from Permission to Get Dirty.

Those that we didn’t photograph will get their chance as we get a little closer to the holidays, since their babies are still teeny tiny.  But next year we should be able to get everyone in the gorgeous Hill Country with their families.  And I might even snap a few of my own kids!
