Bailey, Sam + Lucy

Bailey, Sam and Lucy are the awesome, well-behaved, rock star children of a certain dear friend that i know and love. She calls dressing her family for their annual Sugar Shoot “the most stressful event of the year”. So this year I let her off the hook and just tortured photographed the kids. Plus, I told her to go away. Just give me your kids, and go have a cup of coffee. We’ll find you when we’re done.

And so, we did. And the kids brought it like no one’s business…

But then…I saw this:

And this is what you get when you’re willing to toss your kids into my backseat and go have breakfast with your husband. A rockin’ Christmas card image. Plus, a hot date.

It’s a win-win!

Mason + Collin

Meet Mason, and his brother Collin.

We know Mason from school…he was in my eldest daughter’s class the past few years, and I vaguely knew his mom as ‘That pretty girl that I’m not going to like’ (admit it…you moms have the same label click into place when you first meet someone *that* pretty. It’s just me? Okay then. Moving on….)

She’s *that* pretty. And after I got to know her, realized that she’s even nicer and down to earth than she is pretty (which says a LOT). Yeah, I might have a girl crush on Mason’s Mommy. I admit it.

But look at this cute family! Wouldn’t you?

of course, the boys aren’t too shabby either…

In other words, I was honored that they asked for a Sugar session, thrilled to squeeze them in, and didn’t even mind getting up early on a Sunday to hang out with the pretty people. ;)

One more, just for the cool guy:

Maggie + Abby

Saturday’s session was a LONG time in the making. As in, YEARS…Abby and Maggie’s mom gets major props for being undeterred when it came to booking a Sugar session for her girls (maternity leave cut last year’s session WAY short). I’ve known about these girls for the longest time…my own dear friend Jenny named her daughter Maggie after the very same Maggie that I was finally able to meet. And these young ladies were just as gorgeous and fun to be around as I had been told.

See? It was like being handed a set of Gap models and told “Have fun!”. Which is exactly what their mom did…she stayed *in the car* (what a HUGE privilege to be handed the reins and told “Work your magic. I trust you completely.”).

Thank you, ladies…for bringing your happy selves all the way to Dallas (after bearing with me during this past year of maternity leave and new babyhood). I had a ball…wish we could do it all again tomorrow!

Annie + Lucy…

Kelly asked about a session months ago, right after arriving home with her youngest daughter, and today was finally the day…the weather cooperated, the girls were darling, and just take a look at the clothes she put together. Yummy!

We had a ball today, and from the gorgeous clothes to the drums to the antique truck, this session had a definite cool factor working for it from the word go.

For those that don’t know Kelly and Justin, they are the parents to Lucy and Annie. Kelly keeps a very active blog with LOTS of followers (no pressure!)…and as a photographer that just hung her shingle up for business, it’s an honor to be asked to photograph her sweet family.

Kelly-I hope you love!

Justin is a drummer for a touring band, and I can’t tell you WHO he tours with, but I will say that they’ve been to the Grammy’s.  And in case they were wondering, I am *always* available to play personal photographer at their next Grammy appearance ;) (I’m a giver like that)

Charisma in spades…

Sweet Ethan is now a graduate of our baby plan. Today’s session was his last of that year-long plan, and I am always so proud to see these little ones grow and change, but sad to see them no longer the sleepy newborn, or smiley 6 month old.  I’ve had the pleasure of photographing his brother Alex throughout his first year of life too…and now that neither of these guys will be coming to see me every six month…well, it’s sad!

So we celebrated the big 0-1 by hitting the streets of Deep Ellum.  Because what fits a feisty one year old toddler better than the grunge and character of this area? I know…it was perfect.

Both boys have some serious dance moves, and they showcased them for me today.

But along with dance moves came Kung Fu moves (from a certain Panda, perhaps?).  Alex showed me his mad kung fu skillz:

The birthday boy himself…gonne miss seeing these blue eyes every few months, that’s for sure!

We got a little crazy at the end…”Let’s go defy death kids!” as I put it…and this is one of those shots that just makes me giggle…he did it over and over again. LOVED IT!

This entire session was filled with laughter and energy and just plain, old fashioned joy.  Much love to this little family!
