Carly + Grant

Carly and her big brother Grant (and her cute parents too, of course) took part in our Adoption Sunday session last week. We had such a great time in their home, and Carly was an absolute joy to be around. Let me tell you, this girl can talk! She started chattering when I walked in the door, and didn’t stop until I left

Carly was adopted from China at 19 months, and is now a busy, playful, *informative* five year old. She’s heading into Kindergarten in the Fall (like several little five year olds I know…*sniffle*), and this girlfriend is READY! She showed off some of her mad writing skillz…

Probably my favorite image from our session…Grant and Carly snuggled into bed, reading one of their favorite books (one of my favorites too…”Once there was a little boy…” (say it with me)).

Thanks guys for having me come out! (Carly-I still have my new ‘ring’ that you made for me…it makes me smile every time I look at it! Thank you again!)

In loving memory…

My last post asked for prayers for Alexa and her family, and sadly, Alexa passed away yesterday in the loving arms of her Mommy and Daddy.  I sat down today to look through her session from last August and their happy memories, and suddenly my daughter appeared at my elbow.

“Oh Mommy…is she a princess?”

“Yes sweetheart, she is.  Princess Alexa.  The most beautiful princess of them all.”

Thank you Princess Alexa, for all that you have taught me about never giving up, living life to it’s fullest, and loving beyond any border, even that of Heaven.

I hope you are twirling in your princess dress and laughing with the angels.

A call for prayer…

This week has brought tearful news of two of our Sugar families, and I think that every prayer, every good thought, and every wish for peace and strength and love is very needed.

Alexa is such a little fighter. She is such a joy to everyone that meets her, and I have been so saddened by her CaringBridge site this week as her family documents her sudden decline in health. I hope this little one can pull through and return home to her beloved baby brother, her cute parents, and everything in her life that brings her joy.

Lila was born earlier this week, and is the baby sister of Juliette. Doctors discovered her heart condition after birth, and her 6 hour surgery is scheduled for Friday morning. They say that the first 48 hours are the most critical, and I would love nothing more than to photograph this sweet baby girl, at home with her big sister, and to celebrate her life.

Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers.

Featured…

We’ve been featured on Blogs of Photogs -yay!  It does my heart good to see Sugar next to favorite blogs of mine like Becker and The Pioneer Woman.

Get your PINK on…

While I battle the computer demons that have slowed the editing of Tuesday’s sneak peeks to a c-r-a-w-l, I wanted to share something fun for all girls, big and small, that is opening tonight.

Pinkalicious, The Musical (!!!)

I know, what a perfect way to celebrate the start of Summer vacay! We’ll be going tonight (opening night), wearing pink (of course), and plan to thoroughly enjoy the pink champagne (for me and my friend), pink lemonade (for Sam and her friend), and pink cupcakes (all of the above). I’m also really looking forward to reconnecting with an old friend, who just happens to be the director (I don’t think I’ve seen her in, oh, FIVE YEARS??? Which was when a certain little one dressed in pink entered our lives, and this theater company was born…we’ve both been a leeeeeetle busy!).

Hope to see you there!
