Bennett, Ava + Ellie {dallas childrens photographer}

A little over a year ago I blogged this beautiful session of tiny, newborn Bennett.  Several of those images are still among my favorite newborn images to date.

He grew, I followed his adventures on FaceBook and watched him turn into a handsome toddler, chasing his two sisters every chance he got.

Then one day, something in my FaceBook feed caught my eye. It was Bennett’s mom, thanking everyone for their prayers during this very scary event.  I clicked back, and was horrified to read that he had been diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL), and was undergoing treatment.  I began following his CaringBridge page, and added my prayers to those of their many friends and family members.

Bennett has a long road still ahead of him.   His mom, juggling his treatments among the other day-to-day chaos that comes along with three children, booked his session for a time that he would be feeling his best.  Then, Mother Nature intervened and we had to reschedule.  But then Mother Nature came through for us, and we had a beautiful afternoon for our shoot, not too hot, cold, or wet.  And Bennett rocked it (and kept me on my toes!).

Steroids give him a TON of energy and determination, and we just let him do his thing and tried to keep up.

He did let us grab some GREAT ones, though!

These girls just adore their brother (and the feeling is mutual).  Please add their family to your prayers as they embark on a several year treatment protocol.  I hope to have many more sessions with this sweet family.

Alexa, Marisa + Katelyn {dallas children’s photographer}

I *love* all the new families we get to meet this time of year (especially THIS year!), but it’s especially fun when the new faces in front of my camera are not new to me! These three beauties attend the same school as my kiddos, and not only does Marisa (the cutie in the middle) share a classroom with my Ben, but she’s also in Sam’s girl scout troop (and her mom was brave enough to be our troop leader this year!).  Ben was SO excited that he knew who I was photographing the day of their session, and he stood at my elbow as I downloaded and edited these.  Thankfully, he approves of the end result.

I hope the girls do as well ;)

Adrian {dallas family photographer}

Adrian brought his parents to the Arboretum for our session last week, and the weather, the setting, the lighting, and especially the family could not have been more perfect or fun.  At five, Adrian is at that fun, silly, playful, sometimes serious stage.  He loved exploring the park, but was so incredibly cooperative when it came time for a few more pictures.  I truly love this age, and there’s something extra sweet about working with an only child without siblings to pull your attention away during a shoot.  He was perfect.

And quite handsome, to boot.

LOVE this…he leaned back and assumed this on his own, and I couldn’t press the shutter fast enough. What a little GQ model!

We took some time to explore the castles that are currently sprouting throughout the park, and while he was busy jumping and playing, I snagged this one of him in action. Pure boy!

Sophia {dallas children’s photographer}

One of our slew of brand, spankin’ new Sugar kiddos (thanks to D Magazine!) is Miss Sophia.  At 15 months, she’s quick on her feet, ready to explore, and delights in just about everything. She’s also a hoss, because just a few minutes after face-planting on the cement, she was back to laughing and enjoying her morning in the park.

This may be one of my favorite photos in a long while…I can hear her giggle. Can you?

I’m betting someone had quite the nap after we were finished!

Arturo + Oliver {dallas childrens photographer}

I have such a soft spot for playful parents. Give me a mom or dad that will eschew worries about wrinkles or mud and toss a kid on his (or in this case, her) back and just have FUN with their kiddo? LOVE LOVE LOVE (and have to force myself to not use my entire card on just that moment). THESE are the moments that kids want to look back on…interacting with their parents, playing with their siblings, being a kid.

Our session with Arturo and Oliver was exactly that. Laid back parents (though to be honest, I think we are blessed to have such a steady stream of easy going peeps to work with), absolutely gorgeous, happy kids, and the only agenda was to have fun and be natural. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results!

Someone *really* adores his big brother, can you tell? ;)

And probably my absolute favorite from this whole session…the one that made me giggle AS I pressed the shutter…I give you Mr Arturo (AKA The Ladys’ Man) HUBBA HUBBA:
