Kayla + Will {dallas childrens photographer}

This was our SIXTH (or is it seventh?) session together, and these kids (and their mom) are an annual highlight for me.  We chit-chat our way through, catch up on the goings on in each others’ lives, and in the process snag some fun images to continue to wallpaper their house for yet another year. It just doesn’t get better.

Will is always our little monkey, and Kayla is the sweetest big sister (who rolls her eyes and puts up with it every year like a champ).

Hands down, my favorite photograph of Kayla ever. EVER. Gorgeous.

Brady + Lowery {plano family photographer}

I’ve been photographing Brady and Lowery since before Miss Lowery was born, and over the years their sweet mom, Sunni, and I have become good friends.  It helps to have coinciding divorces ;) (and wine. that helps too).

Last year Sunni unexpectedly lost her mom, and specifically requested that we document her dad with the kids, as after she passed they realized they didn’t have any photos of Lowery with her grandmother.

So we did, and what a sweet session we had.

I have SO much respect for the fact that the kids’ dad joined us as well…putting the kids’ needs first is so incredibly healthy (and admirable). I think I want to be just like Sunni when I grow up ;)

Elizabeth, Zachary + Travis {highland park family photographer}

Another benefit of this time of year? Families that come back after a year or two away from Sugar.  The last time I saw Elizabeth and Zachary was when he was a little over a year old.  They brought their baby brother to play this time (and I almost fell over when Travis appeared in his Dad’s arms. NO IDEA. But you may already know that third babies are my favorite creatures, and Travis was no exception to the rule. LOVE HIM.)

I just love this last one. We did the iconic ‘family walking’ image…but not until after Elizabeth art directed this one. And it’s just so THEM, so of course it’s blog-worthy!

Miguel + William {highland park children’s photographer}

Each year our families come back for another round of Sugar, and Miguel and William have brightened each fall with their big eyes, mops of hair, and (let’s just be honest) attempt to off the other sibling at least once each year.

Last year the older (Miguel) pushed the younger (William) off of a stump. I may never quit kicking myself for putting the camera down to rescue instead of clicking away for posterity.  Because their mom is the awesome, I could have gotten away with documentation instead of preservation.

Last year she brought me a bottle of wine and a much needed hug.

This year we chatted our way through their session, laughing at the antics of her boys and reminiscing over prior shoots and the mishaps that seem to always occur.  We were happy to wrap this one up unscathed, without bandaids, allergic reactions, or serious injuries of any kind.

This year we had us some good, old fashioned girl talk and two very handsome boys…the a little brother who *I THINK* was trying to pay his brother back for last week’s shove off the stump (just take a peek at that last image).

Next year should be epic. I have a feeling…

Avery + Emma {plano family photographer}

It sort of feels wrong to start a blog post with a black and white image. Don’t ask me why…color is my medium of choice (much to the chagrin of my son who is forever standing at my elbow and encouraging “Make it black and white! DO IT!”. If I had an editor, he would be it. WITH GREAT PLEASURE.).

And he would be pleased with the image I’m selecting to lead this sneak peek with. The rest? *SCREAMED* color…and fun, and happiness, and everything that a family session should be.

But the first…there’s just something about a family interacting and loving each other that deserves to be black and white. Love it.

If you haven’t yet, throw some leaves this Fall…All of you.  It’s a wondrous thing.
