Holden + Cooper

IMG_0240 copy

Sweet, newborn, tiny, scrunchy-faced, sleepy, super-tolerant, 8 day old Cooper came to play today, and brought his older brother Holden and cute parents along to help. I was lucky enough to photograph Holden as a newborn as well (almost 2 years ago), and was honored to be asked to document this new little life.

Mr Holden has decided that he’s not too sure about his little brother. Scratch that, he IS sure…and he’s not thrilled. So we got a little creative on the big brother front (Thank you, leftover Halloween candy!):

And we were even able to snag a few family photos before blue-eyed Holden decided he was ready to go outside and play:

The rest of the time Cooper slept…he let us do a myriad of crazy photographer things to him, and was as cooperative as his name might imply:

See how sweet and snuggly he is? (And how gorgeous this mommy of 2 boys is? Say it with me…It isn’t FAIR. No one should look this good with an 8 day old.)

Welcome to the world, Baby Cooper. And welcome to the land of Big Brothers, Sweet Holden. Soon you two will be the best of friends…I just know it!

Harper Amelia…

Last week I had the great honor of documenting sweet Harper’s arrival, and the precious introduction to her three big sisters.  On Saturday we had her newborn session, and I had another chance to play with this new little one.

Trying to get three big ones to sit still with one little one is never easy. But I *heart* this image so much, and had to show it.

Sisters. Love it.

And with that…I’m out!  I’m setting my alarm to go off in (HOLY COW! TWO HOURS???) so I can join 19 of my favorite Montessori Mamas on our annual trek to Mexico.  Yes, our school rocks.  ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wyatt…

Today I had the chance to play with another squishy newborn…and this one was squishier than most!  Wyatt came into this world weighing 10 pounds, and his session is one I’ve been looking forward to ever since we heard his birth weight. How often do you get to play with a 10 pounder?

Wyatt is the first born of this sweet little family, and his parents are absolutely smitten with their little man.

A great thing about Wyatt’s session is that his grandparents were there.  It’s rare enough that I get to meet grandparents at sessions, but rarer still is the chance to photograph them with their precious new grandbaby.

And one thing that I noticed today is how much Wyatt looks like his grandfather:

And again…these sweet grandparents are just so in love with their Wyatt!

Welcome to the world, sweet Wyatt!  I look forward to watching you grow!

Newborn Noah…

I had the great pleasure of meeting Noah on Friday and not only indoctrinating my new (sexy beast of a) camera, but what a great way to take a quick break from maternity leave? Newborns are my fave, fave, FAVORITE!  They have little personalities, even at this age.  I love getting to know them… their quirks, their expressions.  Figuring out what I need to do to get amazing photos of them for their parents is the challenge that thrills me and keeps every newborn session fresh and interesting.  As a mommy of a recent newborn myself (now three months old!), I know exactly how precious this teeny tiny stage is.

Noah wins the award for being the only newborn I’ve ever worked with that stayed awake THE ENTIRE TIME.  Okay, so he slept for about 5 minutes…but then I tried to curl him up on his tummy (which all newborns love, right? Not exactly…).  He’s not a tummy guy. He’s not big into curling up and resuming that in-utero position.

Nope, not Noah…he likes to S-T-R-E-T-C-H. And lay only on his side or back (thankyouverymuch), and watch everything with wide, interested eyes.  He has such a worried little old man expression at times, which is my favorite thing about newborns. They look so wise, don’t you think?

What’s that? Enough blab? Photos?

I think he was trying to tell me something…this was the last image of the day. And probably my favorite.

Sugar Baby…

Sweet Colette came into the world last Monday, and on Wednesday was placed in our arms and became forever ours.  She is an absolute dream baby, both in spirit and temperament, and I had THE best time photographing my own little one.  Not unlike every other newborn I get to play with, she needed some persuasion to fall asleep. But once she was out, she let us do all sorts or crazy things to her…just take a look:

BIG HUGE THANKS to Ann of Ann Beck Photography for sending Coco this awesome little onesie.  It arrived *just* in time, and I think we’ll use at least one of these on her birth announcements.  It is so perfect!

(see? crazy.  our great dane Hannah is awesome with kids.  I think we’ll have to get this one BIG for our bedroom.)

And this, my friends, is why I look so harried and crazed these days.  If you see me around town or at school picking up the other two kids..just keep walking. We listed out all of the sessions that need to be edited in time for holiday cards and it’s over 30. The good news? I’m getting *really* good at editing pics with a baby over my shoulder.  That’s talent, people.

And you know what? I can’t imagine it any other way.  We are so blessed.
