Unplanned surprises bring the most joy…

Yesterday’s session was centered around the newest little one in this family of five…baby brother Michael will soon be here to join in the fun, and after last week’s family of four girls, I had a blast playing with these three soon-to-be big brothers.

See how beautiful mom is? Radiant…peaceful…she handles being the only girl in a pack of boys VERY well.

I wanted to make sure we had a few sweet images of the current baby of the family.  Baby #4 was a surprise, and little Andrew is going to do a great job of showing him the ropes.

This is one of my favorite images from this session…a tangled mess of limbs in the background, laughter and tickles, and a big eyed brother in the front.  I *heart* this.

Pink or Blue?

I was lucky enough to help welcome a new little life into this world today…the newest baby in a family with three girls.  The big question of the day: What would it be?

Votes were cast by the bazillion family members in the waiting room, and I had a mental bet placed (I said girl).

At 3:54 pm Harper Amelia came into the world with the sweetest, softest cry I have ever heard. Another girl!

She weighs a dainty 7 pounds 1 ounce, and looks *just* like her three sisters.

The three big sisters were fetched from the waiting room and allowed to be the first to see their new baby, find out what SHE was, and hear her name.

I think they were a *mite* excited:

When the time came to hold her, tears and pleads of “Me first! “I wanna hold her!” came fast and hard from this little trio of big sisters.  Daddy was fair and let them each have a turn, going from youngest to oldest.

No longer the middle child, sweet Ellie had a hard time sharing (but an easy time loving on) her new baby sister.

This just says it all:

Congratulations everyone!  Harper is a love, and I can’t wait to see her grow and change.

Matthew is ONE…

Happy Birthday to yet another of our little baby planners.  It’s hard enough when MY kids grow up before I can turn around, but to see so many of our little buddies here at Sugar growing like weeds before the lens? Well, that just might push me over the edge.  Wasn’t it yesterday that we met Matthew before he was even born? Not to mention all of his little stages in between.

*sniff*

Big sister Caroline still leads the pack, but he’s now a rough and tumble, waits-for-no-Momma kind of guy…and with a mischievous smile that could melt any heart.

Big congratulations to this sweet family…Can you see the bump hiding above?  Baby #3 is on it’s way!  Which is just the salve I need after losing another sweet baby planner to Toddlerhood.

Introducing Annie…

One of my sweet mommy friends is Kelly…She keeps a wonderful blog documenting the day-to-day life of her first daughter, Lucy, and on Thanksgiving they returned home from Vietnam with their second beautiful baby girl, Annie.  She kept a separate blog for Annie’s trip (waiting to tell the online world about their adoption until their return), and I chewed my nails and worried obsessively about this sweet little family. Their return trip to Vietnam was very different from their first, and their flight home was bumped up two days to just get everyone HOME.  They have been struggling with attachment issues and some possible health related issues with sweet Annie, and I can certainly understand that desire to just get home as soon as possible.

Sweet Annie is beautiful, with big solemn eyes and a little snub nose.  I hope she settles into her new life with her adoring big sister and precious parents very soon (because selfishly…I want to play with her too!)

Ben + Ava…

Ava has grown up in front of my lens, and yesterday I had the chance to meet her new little brother, Mr. Ben.  At six months, he has the exact same eyes, same expressions, even the same hair as his older sister did when I first met her. It’s such a case of deja vu, photographing these baby blues again.

I mean, is there any doubt that these two are brother and sister?

EYELASHES!!! (and even better…FRECKLES!)
