Welcome baby Jacie!

Sweet Jacie joined the world yesterday morning, and in doing so enchanted both her Daddy AND her big brother Jarret with very little effort.  She was kind enough to wait until I returned from Florida, and even then wasn’t quite ready.  Her induction was the fastest yet, and I walked into (and then back out of) the hospital in under two hours.

I love births more than anything…the anticipation, the agony, that moment of glory.  Love it.

Here is Grandma…witnessing the arrival of her third grandbaby and first grandDAUGHTER. Powerful stuff.

And oh…that moment of introducing bigger siblings to their new baby. Priceless.

Big thanks to Jacie’s very special family for asking me to be there, trusty camera in hand.   Love you guys!

Taking a break…

Sugar is taking one last hiatus before the crazy holiday season begins.  We’ll be closed until Monday, August 18th.  So if you email or call and don’t hear back right away, trust us, it’s nothing personal ;)

My family is hitting the beach in Florida, and I’m excited to have a full week of no work to look forward to.  Which is good, because the amount of work I did NOT get done before leaving tomorrow is sky high and overwhelming…and it will allllll be waiting for me upon my return!

And in case you’re in the mood for some fun news-pop over to our adoption blog…we’ve been matched and are just over the moon with happiness.  Baby is due mid-October!

This is good to know BECAUSE it’s going to shrink our holiday shooting season by two weeks, and we’ll stop booking sessions for the year after October 15th.  So book now (Call Mindy at 214.315.9459 or mindy@sugar-photography.com), and help us welcome our newest addition into the family!

Chancey and Safin…

This morning I had the chance to play with Miss Chancey and Mr. Safin (3 and almost 2), and we had a big ol’ time.  There was an Indian tee pee, multiple stylish outfit changes, and lots of sweet talk to get the little one to follow what the big one was doing so well (batting her eyelashes at the camera).

It was such a fun morning, and I had a ball finding all the little nooks and crannies in their home that were just begging to be photographed.

And in case you were at the Wiggles concert Saturday night (like we were) you might have heard Anthony reading Safin’s “Happy B-arrrrr-thday” sign to the audience.  I heard his name and just knew it was the same little guy that I’d get to photograph today. I was right!

Jackson and Preston

Big brother Jackson (2.5) introduced me to his new little brother Preston today…and we had a great time playing with them both!

As you can see, Preston is obviously a happy, sunny little guy. We typically photograph babies as newborns, but I have to say that playing with a 9 week old sure has it’s benefits…including big, gummy smiles like these:

and great big blue eyes that look right at you, like these:

Jackson is a sweet big brother, big on kisses and easy to coerce to look into the camera…

(do you think he sees Thomas?) ;)

Blake and Grayson…

Our last Adoption Sunday session took place on Sunday, and we are sad to see an end to these wonderful family sessions.  The holiday season approaches, and it’s time to focus on the craaaaziness of the next few months :)

Grayson and Blake were fitting as our last session…sweet, loving, and absolute dolls…they were a fun way to wrap up the sessions.

Blake is 2, and was adopted at birth.  Her birthmother and her mother are cousins, and theirs is an open adoption.

Grayson is 6 months, and is his parents’ biological son.  And I’m sorry, but can you get enough of that red hair and blue eyes?

Thank you to all of the families that participated in our Adoption Sunday project.  There are a few families we weren’t able to fit in, and we hope to find open weekends here and there in the coming months to squeeze you guys in.  Also-we are still looking for families that have adopted from Africa and India…so if you know of anyone, send them our way!
