Vacay Hideaway…

Now that baby Grace has arrived, we can officially close up shop for a few days. This week is our “staycation” (yes, we’re apparently not the first family to decide to take a vacation in the backyard…who knew we could be so trendy?)

So far our week has included a trip to the local fire station, a few Mom vs. Dad floatie fights in the backyard (“Who will win…will it be Mom atop the floating Dinosaur named Ashley? Or Dad on the spaceship floatie from NASA? Watch as they battle it out with pool noodles, and cheer with the kids as they both lose!”), a quick Mommy Night Out, and enough rides at Six Flags to last a lifetime. Later this week, blueberry picking and maybe a train ride. If we get really crazy, we might even visit the zoo. I know, we’re feeling a little sassy with our staycation selves.

We’ll be back in the office on Monday. Happy First Week of June!

Amazing Grace…

day was unbelievably emotional. A dear friend and fellow photographer, Ruth, welcomed baby Grace into this world, and I was honored to be there with my camera in hand.

This sweet baby girl is such a special little life, and there were so many fellow photographers and friends across the country holding their breath and sending up prayers for her safe arrival today.

Welcome to the world baby Grace.

We have been waiting for you.

So enGage-ing…

Mr. Gage is now 2. This is me, falling over in shock. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? He was such a cuddly little guy at our first session, and though he was a man on the move at our last session and I know by looking at my calendar that we were last together a year ago (which means, logically, that he’s another year older)…there’s something about this robust, size 3 wearing, rainboots sportin’ little man that just kills me.

OH is he fun! (You should hear him call his Mom by her first name…that makes me laugh everytime I think about it…).

The weather on the day of our session was awful…thick overcast, drizzly rain, and huge thunderstorms that rolled in a little while after our session. But we made it happen, and I can’t decide if I’m so in love with these catchlights because of how DARK and DREARY it was (and therefore so challenging to get catchlights of any sort), or because of how stunning his eyes look. Probably a bit of both ;)

We combined Mr. Gage’s 2 year session with a few of his older sister, Caitlin, for their family’s Christmas cards (No, it’s not too soon to start thinking about your cards!). We had to time it just right with her home-from-college work schedule, and his busy playdate-dr appointments-naps-activities that 2 year old boys are prone to have on their daily to-do list.

And…we did it!
