Adoption Sunday/Friday/What day is it? Meet Max:

Adoption Sundays have suddenly expanded…today was Adoption Friday, tomorrow we have an Adoption Saturday, and on Sunday we have THREE sessions books.  Love it!!!

Today was a special adoption session because Max is our first newborn to photograph for this project.  When we heard about his family we knew right away that he needed to get in just as quickly as possible…he’s already four weeks and I LOVE being able to include a sweet, cuddly newborn amongst all the big kids we’ve been photographing.

Max’s adoption is domestic, and the coolest thing about his story is that his parents waited two days for ‘the call’.

Two. Days.

You see, Max is 1/8 Native American, and Native American laws state that these babies can only be adopted by card carrying members of a Native American tribe.  The cards all fell into place and just as his parents were approved, he was born, and the shortest wait of all took place.

I had to snap a quick photo of the dreamcatcher that hangs in his nursery

Max’s daddy is the card-carrying member of the (I-already-forgot-the-name) tribe, and these two special guys definitely share a bond.

And Mom?  Well, she’s just smitten with her gorgeous boy.

Congratulations on your sweet family guys!  I hope he continues to be the laid back little man that he was this morning…he’s an absolute heartbreaker!

Hi Jen. I’m not sure if you remember me. We last met when I was working for Laurie Peck & we were both very pregnant with our boys. You & your husband had come to the office to do some estate planning.
Anyways, I’m a volunteer with HFC & came across your site thru Maggie’s beautiful pictures. I’m amazed with your work. Your pictures take my breath away! I hope to someday be able to have a session of my own with Sugar — trying to convince my husband that it would be the perfect Mother’s/B-Day gift for the next 5 years. You are incredibly gifted and thank you for sharing your work & the stories of all of these amazing families. Best Wishes to you!

Oh my! I’m a mess looking at all of the adoptive families! The photographs are just stunning. We have 2 bio kids, ages 8 and almost 6, and a 2 year old daughter, adopted from China at 10 months old. I love seeing adoptive families, and you capture the love so well. Our 2 year old has brought so much life into our family and makes each one of us so much better than we were before.

I came over here from Big Mama, but was so excited to see we live in your area.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful images. I’ll be back!
