Even more boys…

The boys are out in full force these days!

First today was sweet Miguel. I’ve had the awesome opportunity to witness this little guy’s many milestones, from hearing his first cry to watching him pull up in his crib for the first time…and watching him run around the park this morning meant more to me than I can express. It is such an honor to photograph every single one of our families. Being asked to witness a child’s first year of life is an even bigger honor, and one that I don’t take lightly.

Which is why I’m so tickled that not only is Miguel going to be a big brother in the Fall, but my camera and I have been invited back into the delivery room.

Again…such an honor.

So today we played, and ran (and fell), and climbed, and showed off all of our soon-to-be big brother moves. And as Miguel’s mommy said (as we gasped for breath after chasing little man through the grass) “How will we manage to photograph TWO of these little people?”.

I laughed and suggest duct tape, and a round of martinis. I’m just sayin’…

After Miguel and his family of 3.5 I met with Jacob and Ian (I know…MORE BOYS!). And these two have a serious problem when it comes to listening to authority. Take a look…

This is me: “I don’t want ANY laughing! NO laughing boys! I mean it!!! NO LAUGHING!!!”

And their reaction:

(it works every time) ;)

The boys also brought their out of town grandparents along, and we snapped a few with the guests of honor and then did a little ‘boys only’ portion.

We had an absolute ball, and ended up in the water at the end of our park session. There was some serious, competitive splashing going on.

And then the boys turned the waterworks on ME! (payback!)

Thanks everyone for such a fun start to the weekend! I couldn’t have asked for better weather, better timing, OR better boys to play with today.

Much love!

Boys will be boys…

After last night’s storms I was thrilled to wake to bright blue skies without a cloud in sight. A quick email to Jensen and Hudson’s Mom let her know that we were still definitely on for this morning, “but…you know…bring the boys’ rainboots“.

She not only brought the boots, she brought two of the happiest, smiliest (yes, my own word) boys and we went to town this morning.

There were a few bumps and bruises along the way (seconds after this image was snapped big brother leaned down to give little bro a hug, and a slo-mo face plant ensued, with little Hudson landing forehead-first on to the concrete. Yes, concrete.).

Gotta love a Mom that remains nonplussed after a little nosedive.

And more than that? Gotta love a little guy that can bounce back with a few megawatt smiles like this one:

It was a session that did my heart good. After a tough few days that have left my heart hurting and confidence shaken, these two little boys (along with the cutie pies I’ve been able to play with all week) did much to help me remember why it is that I love what I do.

Mwah!

Zachary + Elizabeth…

I really can’t believe that this is Zachary’s last session as part of his baby plan. Seriously? A year? It was just yesterday that he looked like this, and this.

But yes, a year has passed, and it’s time to accept that along with my own little ones growing older every day, all of these sweet babies grow and change too.

Elizabeth was just a little bit of a thing the first time we met. Now look at her:

We had a great time at the park today, and the weather could NOT have been more perfect. I was jumping up and down in my car on the way to our location today, just knowing we had perfectly overcast weather thrilled me to no end.

Of course, wrangling two mobile ones into sitting still for a millisecond was interesting. And along with fun little perspectives like this:

We were able to capture moments like these…(seconds after big sister tickled little brother a tad too long…look at her smiling face peeking out from under Dad’s arm. It kills me every time!

Back to the reason for our session..Mr. Zachary is One. And proud of it!

So, you know…we had some fun, found some sticks to throw and quacked at a few ducks. Did a little chasing and some swinging, and all in all it was a very fun session (that went by MUCH faster than I thought…time sure flies when you’re having fun!)

And this is where we called it a day…after an awesome session full of smiles of personality, punctuated by the discovery of M-U-D!!!

I can’t compete with that! ;)

Chasing Charlie…

Charlie’s Mommy won one of our auction lots last year at his preschool auction…this one for a 16×20 canvas! I can’t wait to see which one they choose as canvas-worthy.

Debbie was teasing me today, telling me that whenever sessions are a little on the challenging side I like to post on the blog about how ‘busy’ the little ones were. So I won’t say Charlie was ‘busy’…but he definitely kept me hopping today!

At 20 months, there is just *so much* of this world to explore. I can’t blame him…it is fascinating to throw sticks into the water, chase birds, practice running across bridges, and generally keep Mommy and Miss Jen busy on their toes.

He did all of this today, and in the interim we managed to capture a few of his gorgeous, blue eyed smiles.

And when Charlie was finished, he let us know…

(but I still snuck this last little shot as he dragged his favorite bear down the path and headed for home. Can you see his name embroidered on the ear? Love it!)
