Three pretty girls…

I have to give it to Mindy…she’s been telling me about this family for months. Months!

Every time we talked about opening the schedule up a little more to make room for a few more sessions, she’d ask hopefully “And this family? Can we fit them in?”.

She told me they had a story that would touch my heart.

I’m so glad I listened to Mindy (or that she wore me down….we’ll never know which happened first).

Meet Kim and her girls, Faith and Katie. Last summer Kim’s husband died suddenly and tragically from a massive heart attack. He was only in his late 30′s.

I look at her today and I can’t imagine how horrific that must have been. He was extremely close to his older daughter, Katie. His little Faith was so young when he passed…will she remember him?

What I can imagine is how strong and graceful Kim must have been when this happened. The strength of her character shines through, even a year later. I am sure that her husband is at peace, knowing his girls have the most wonderful role model they could ever ask for. Their mother.

We met this morning (early!) to give this family some happy memories to decorate their new home with. I couldn’t have asked for three better subjects (I should say five, since Grandma and Grandpa were there as well).

We started on the docks, feeding the swans. We had to work fast because of the light…but we could not have asked for better weather or lighting. It was simply stunning:

The girls are typical sisters. Big sister Katie rolled her eyes more than once, and at the end of the session little sister Faith stuck her sticky sucker into Katie’s hair. But most of the time they were friends…

Can you imagine raising a 12 year old and a 2 year old at the same time? The drama…the tantrums…the hormones! If anyone can do it, it’s Kim!

It’s usually the little ones that give out first. I think Grandpa was ready for picture time to end! ;)

Kim-thank you for opening your home and for sharing your story with me today. Mindy was right…I’m so glad I listened to her!

What a sweet birthday!

Danijela and Luka’s mommy has a great group a friends…they gifted her with a Sugar Photography session on her last birthday, and today was the day!

We met this morning to coax every little smile we could from these two cuties (Confession: It wasn’t hard)

The tricky part was finding the light, and then convincing both kids to stay in the same spot (one wanting to roll, one wanting to be with Mommy). That took a little more creativity, but they did it!

Happy Birthday to Danijela and Luka’s Mommy!

Flyin’ Lion…

I met Hayden and his (entire) family in the park today for a session intended to get that one photo for Christmas cards.

Sound familiar?

Thankfully, wrangling one two year old is a heckuva lot easier than three kids, and we have some fun images to show his parents, grandparents, and uncle.

But for me…these are my favorites:

This poor lion was thrown all over the place this morning. He almost ended up in the creek (good ol’ Dad clambered down to rescue him), and managed to catch some major air during our shenanigans. (you gotta take one for the team, Mr. Lion!)

What happens to a two year old who is *done*?

One last (slightly desperate) attempt to get just one. more. shot.

Who us? Torture?

I’m sure Hayden is going to be *so* excited when he hears we’re meeting again in the spring for more pictures!

The lion? Probably not so much…

Sisters…

A certain little sister just turned the big 0-1, and we had her last baby plan session today. Mom and I had big hopes that we’d also get that one great photo for their Christmas Card.

You know. The ONE. With all three. Smiling. Laughing. Cheerful.

Easy, right?

*sigh*

At least Mom is easy going and was THERE, sweating alongside me-so she threw in the towel and said “I think a collage is a good idea!”.

And I completely agreed!

We have some great shots of the girls…the sisters tickling:

The oldest in her gorgeous skirt on the stairs:

And a precious little birthday girl! Happy Birthday Addison!

Welcome Baby Hudson!

Jensen is officially a big brother!

Today was, hands down, THE easiest newborn session I’ve ever experienced. It was amazing to see how simple it was to move this little guy around. He cooperated 200%, slept like a log, and did not make. one. peep.

Can I clone him?

We’d bend him and fold him and curl him, and he’d just lay there, completely content.

And big brother? Another absolute dream. I asked his Mommy to not tell her friends (who are clients of mine as well) about their seamless session. They have new babies coming soon, and I now have very big shoes to fill.

I’m probably not helping…bragging about Hudson like this. But…just look! Don’t you want to eat him up?
