Three pretty girls…

I have to give it to Mindy…she’s been telling me about this family for months. Months!

Every time we talked about opening the schedule up a little more to make room for a few more sessions, she’d ask hopefully “And this family? Can we fit them in?”.

She told me they had a story that would touch my heart.

I’m so glad I listened to Mindy (or that she wore me down….we’ll never know which happened first).

Meet Kim and her girls, Faith and Katie. Last summer Kim’s husband died suddenly and tragically from a massive heart attack. He was only in his late 30’s.

I look at her today and I can’t imagine how horrific that must have been. He was extremely close to his older daughter, Katie. His little Faith was so young when he passed…will she remember him?

What I can imagine is how strong and graceful Kim must have been when this happened. The strength of her character shines through, even a year later. I am sure that her husband is at peace, knowing his girls have the most wonderful role model they could ever ask for. Their mother.

We met this morning (early!) to give this family some happy memories to decorate their new home with. I couldn’t have asked for three better subjects (I should say five, since Grandma and Grandpa were there as well).

We started on the docks, feeding the swans. We had to work fast because of the light…but we could not have asked for better weather or lighting. It was simply stunning:

The girls are typical sisters. Big sister Katie rolled her eyes more than once, and at the end of the session little sister Faith stuck her sticky sucker into Katie’s hair. But most of the time they were friends…

Can you imagine raising a 12 year old and a 2 year old at the same time? The drama…the tantrums…the hormones! If anyone can do it, it’s Kim!

It’s usually the little ones that give out first. I think Grandpa was ready for picture time to end! ;)

Kim-thank you for opening your home and for sharing your story with me today. Mindy was right…I’m so glad I listened to her!

    Jen,
I have to tell you that I look at these pictures at least ten times a day. You EXCEEDED my expectations! (and that is very difficult to do)

I will treasure these pictures forever and am so thankful you came into our lives. You have put a smile on my face and brought much joy to us all.

    Thank you so much!
