"No walkers in sight!"

I told my husband that I had a Senior session today, and he looked a bit shocked when I mentioned Deep Ellum.

“A Senior? Like, with a walker?”

No sweetie…no walkers.

Just a fun, vivacious, enigmatic Senior (as in, class of ‘08), who was also beautiful. What more could I have asked for today?

Annie and I had such fun today, exploring Deep Ellum, avoiding the homeless, and generally doing our part to beautify and revitalize the area.

More Seniors to come….stay tuned!

amazing moment on video…

I saw this today on a blog that I haven’t checked in on for a while. As the stepsister of a special needs child (now a 35 year old, but still very special to us) this gave me goosebumps and made me smile.

(a man with Autism is singing the National Anthem, gets the giggles, and the crowd takes over)

Once a upon a time…

there lived a little princess, in a castle far, far away (four hours). Her mommy (the Queen) was an avid blog reader, and one day told her husband, the King “I’m going to hire this person to take pictures of our precious Princess.”

People throughout the land thought she was crazy…driving eight hours for a photo session?

But knowing, deep in her heart, that she wanted something unique, special, and as sweet as can be, she continued in her quest to have her daughter photographed by Sugar Photography.

A date was picked, and then rescheduled. The second date was also rescheduled, due to looming rain and dark skies. But on the third day, the skies parted, the sky shone again, and Princess Hadley was able to play with her newfound friend, Miss Jen, and many pictures were taken of the Princess.

They were aided by one very understanding Mommy-Queen, and her adorable (and very agreeable) Grandmother-Queen (sorry…I’m getting lost here…). Both were asked to “Take a seat!” whilst Hadley and Miss Jen wandered around the magical park, looking for fairies, and discussing important matters of state such as dogs, brothers, and squirrels.

A wonderful time was had by all, and Princess Hadley returned home to her castle (far, far away), and her Mommy returned to her computer, anxious to see results from this morning’s session.

So…in hopes that the drive home was an easy one, and without further ado:

Look how cute these ladies are! Mom in the background, grinning from ear to ear, probably mentally ticking off her wish list “stairs…check! bridge…check! grass…check!”. Grandma on the bench, carefully holding the dresses and probably wondering “Why did we drive four hours for pictures?”. Both Mom and Grandma were wonderful about letting me take Hadley off on my own. I’m sure there were a few gasps of alarm as Hadley fell no less than 4 times (once, skinning her knee!)…but bless their sweet hearts, they probably clutched at one another and held their breath. They were so trusting and faithful-thank you!

Care to go for a walk?

Today is a sad day…the third anniversary of Baby Allie’s passing. My heart has ached all day for Jenny and Andrew, Allie’s precious grandparents, her little sister Maggie (who is such a shining light in their lives), and everyone that has been touched by her.

She was an amazing little girl. One that I dearly wished I’d had the chance to meet.

On Saturday my family will be participating in the Heroes for Children 1K. I encourage you to sign up, join us, and walk for a good cause. We’ve donated a photography session to be given away at the drawing taking place that morning.

If you can’t make it, might I suggest a donation, in Allie’s name. I did so today, and it helped to know that through her, other families will receive assistance and the help they so badly need.

Jenny…it’s a true honor to call you my friend. I love you! I’ll see you Saturday!

ps) In case you click on the link above, ready to register for the walk…I’ll be joining you in line on race day. OOPS!

Zackary + Elizabeth (take two)

Elizabeth celebrated her first birthday just after our first session together. Several months later, her baby brother Zachary was born, and we had our newborn session.

Today we had Zachary’s six month session, and Elizabeth (ever cheerful and fun to be around) was her usual sparkling self. We met early to work around Zachary’s nap schedule, but he seems to have inherited Elizabeth’s happy nature, as he was mellow and content up to the end.

In fact, it was his sister that said “All done!” first. I’m sure he napped well afterwards though…that’s a hidden benefit of a photo session…a nice LONG naptime afterwards!
