Do you hate me now? How ’bout now?…Maybe now?

‘Cause I’m not sure I’d blame you if you did. I sort of roll my eyes at myself these days.

You should see my office. “MOUNDS OF CRAP!!!” does not do the MOUNDS OF CRAP (!!!) justice that I have staring me in the face (can I say ‘Crap‘ without offending anyone? Trust me-these piles defy any non-cuss-related word that I can drum up).

My desk is buried behind boxes and piles and stacks and even more boxes.

Somewhere, under, behind and beside all those boxes, sit the guilty party…me. Guilty of not blogging, of not posting, of being painfully slow with emails and phone calls. And let’s not go there with the sessions that are (over) due.

So yes…it’s a big grouch-fest over here. And yet, it’s strangely comforting to complain about it to all 10 of my readers.

I guess I should take pictures, just to illustrate the level of MOUNDS OF CRAP that I have piled up.

But that would involve picking up my camera. Which is almost painful to me right now…because then I have to download that image.
And convert it.
Color correct.
White balance.
Add some contrast.
Save it.
Open it in photoshop.
Zap out the dust spots (who I’ve named “Bob” and “Mary” since they have apparently taken up permanent residence in my camera body).
Crop.
Burn the edges.
Lighten here and there.
Possibly layer and increase the contrast to give it that little pop (and to show off the cool turqouise walls of my new office).
Then flatten.
Save.
Resize and sharpen for web.
Slap on the watermark (so noone in Tokyo or Bangladesh will use my image of this incredibly messy, cluttered office full of MOUNDS OF CRAP!!! as their own).
And let’s not forget the fun of actually uploading it to the blog.

(seriously-don’t you just want to smack me upside the head and say “get over yourself, you big baby!”)

So instead…I’ll share this. My big (physically big) new accomplishment.

Coming soon (like, in 2 weeks), to a Dallas highway near you…a billboard!

Go Audrey! You’re a rockstar!!!!

And my own little rockstar-Ben! His burn is healing wonderfully-and though he has a tendency to not enter the kitchen whenever he sees me pulling the pot out of the cabinet (can’t say I blame him)-he’s doing amazingly well! Thank you all for your well wishes and sweet emails. They really meant the world to me!

And now *big sigh*. Back to my CRAP. I estimate that I’ve been sitting in this chair for 4 hours straight, uploading orders and just trying to get caught up. I’m afraid to stand up…the pleather back massager is not usually kind to my thighs. I wonder if I can just sit here all night…

I used to think that being a photographer sounded like loads of fun but now…..with all that work….it just sounds frustrating and tiring!

as a once user of Blog spot, let me recommend Typepad… I know it costs a tiny fraction to use every month, but there are absolutly NO PROBLEMS with uploading a photo. AND if I had to count the number of times that blogspot dissed me… ooohmy. So that would at least make one part of the daily process of images go much much smoother!!
And they customers just dont realize it either…how much we have to do to one image. Old days… shoot the neg, send off to lab. Get pics back. Ahhhhh.. Seemed a WHOLE lot easier then… didnt it?
Glad your son is bouncing back and feeling better.

You are my new hero!!! I so identify with you. I could have typed this myself. It’s overwhelming sometimes. Some days I think it would be easier to just throw up my hands and get a “real” job. One where someone else was in charge and I could clock in and out. But then I’m reminded of how blessed I am and how much I love what I do. I could no more do away with my camera than I could cut off my arms and legs. It’s a part of who I am.
But just know that today, your pity party absolutely blessed a photographer in Alabama! You gave me assurance that I’m not alone in these feelings.
But I’m also not alone in being blessed!
Glad Ben is doing better, please his heart and his Momma’s heart.

what an amazing story little Audrey has — I work in the mornings across from Presby so I am always looking at all the people on the billboards– wondering their “story” — that is awesome !

Your little boy looks like a sweetie— having a 2 yr old boy myself I can’t imagine what you all have been thru with that — blessings on his FULL recovery :)
