I *heart* February!

This morning was busy with the February covers of Dallas Child and Fort Worth Child…and ‘busy’ is a good word to describe how it went.

First, Dallas. Jake and Emma are 1 year old twins that were selected to appear on the cover. The idea was that we definitely wanted Emma, and there were high hopes that we’d have a shot of the two together. Until they showed up. Sick.

Bless their sweet little hearts, they tried. They really did. Emma has the most amazing blue eyes and A.Jolie lips, but sadly was just not in the mood for us today.

Jake, with his matching blue eyes and impish grin stepped in to pick up the slack and performed like he was born to do this. “My sister doesn’t want to be here? Let Super-Jake save the day!”.

After they left we met Fort Worth’s cover child, Bennett. His curls, big eyes and endearing baby signs made his session *way* too easy. I don’t know how the girls at Dallas Child will decide which to use!

Miguel

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of attending the birth and celebrated arrival of baby Miguel. After an induction that lasted all day (and I’m sure felt longer to his Mommy) he arrived at 9:21 last night.

I must say, he is the most alert and intent newborn that I’ve ever seen. He had this expression from the time he was born until I left.

Mommy, Daddy and Miguel are all doing wonderfully and getting to know one another (and are trying to convince baby Miguel that the world is not such a serious place.)

Congratulations!

Don’t forget to grab your February issue of Dallas Child and Fort Worth Child, as inside is an essay entitled “Portrait of a Modern Birth”. Two families shared their most intimate moments in order to portray two very different, yet modern, approaches to birth. Many thanks to Greta and Joseph’s parents for allowing me to be there as they welcomed their precious new babies into the world!

1+1=1

Luke and Lauren turned One today, and along with their big brother Bruce and all of their family they celebrated in the very best of ways…with presents, balloons, and musical entertainment!

What tastes better than a birthday cupcake? A present, of course! I’m feeling indecisive again today…color, or black and white?

A toast…

To the wonderful families that I’ve had the great honor of working with this past year.

To the many gorgeous smiles captured of your children as they played, danced, twirled, and laughed.

To the new babies and their new siblings.

To those first teeth and first steps.

To stunning nurseries and cozy bedrooms.

To cover models and famous families.

To capturing a baby’s first cry and the transition of husband and wife into Mommy and Daddy.

To all of this and more…What a wonderful year it has been!

And to all of our new friends we will make this year, new babies to be born and photographed, new mommies and daddies to meet and share stories with. To the loose teeth and first birthdays yet to come…

2007 will be a wonderful year because of you!

What better way to ring in the New Year than to show off our very first newborn of 2007!

meet Andrew:

Happy New Year!
