Blessed…

That is me this morning.

My husband just woke me up with a plane ticket to Sante Fe for the weekend-we leave in four hours (and no, I have no winter clothes or even jeans…this should be interesting).

I have the best husband, the best business manager (Ruthann rescheduled my Sunday session so I could go), the best friends (for going along with our girls night out plans for tonight that apparently didnt really exist), and the best CLIENTS in the world for being so understanding. Thank you all!

We return on Monday, and sadly my Monday morning session found out this morning that we had to postpone…an especially big thank you to Erin and family for being so understanding and accomodating! I owe you guys!

So I’m off to a weekend of 50 degree days and 30 degree nights (I grew up in El Paso, so New Mexico holds a special place in my heart) with my dear husband…happy six years honey! (you stinker!).

One of those days…

Today was just one of those days. It started out fine…session with a sweet family that I had been looking forward to. In the back of my mind was the niggling thought “Something always goes a little funny with this family…they probably think you’re a nutcase.” as in the past, this had been the case. At their first proofing session the slideshow wouldn’t play (first and only time that has happened). Then Mom drove off with the contact sheets on the roof of her car (not exactly my doing, but just proof that when I am around things go awry). Then their coffee table book arrived and despite the fact that I had designed their birth announcements-I had managed to insert the wrong date of birth in Ella’s book and had to reprint it. Stuff like that…the sort of stuff that puts niggling thoughts in your head and makes you wonder what’s going to happen *this* time.

It was a little overcast outside, but I had my flash and (gasp!) figured we’d just go ahead and use that instead of wait for a brighter day…they are moving out of state in two weeks and can’t reschedule (and I didn’t want to even ask as they have enough on their plate right now).

So we resorted to the flash (sb800 and lightsphere, if you are interested) and went to town! Two sisters and a cousin…two of the three can’t quite sit so we had some creative positioning happening (oh, but they are CUTE images…you’ll have to wait to see though, until they proof their session in a few weeks).

All went well, kiddos cooperated, flash worked beautifully, all of us worked up a sweat, bing bang bong…an hour or so later and I’m out the door, leaving behind three kids in need of a break (ha ha-mission accomplished).

“Hmmmm” I mused, as I headed to the school to pick up my kids…”That went rather well! For once I didn’t make a fool of myself!”

That feeling lasted about 30 minutes, until someone at the school pointed out the fact that my shirt was on INSIDE OUT.

So yes, this poor family continues to think I am a scatterbrained maniac who can’t even manage to dress herself.

(and just so you know-the rest of my day continued on the same track)

So while I head to the living room to watch a little McDreamy with the rest of America (and treat myself to some well deserved dessert)…Here is one to share from today (which I think sort of captures the spirit of today).

Abby in flight:

ps) my day continues. I managed to tape the wrong show. :( Guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow night when they replay it. I think I might need to just go to bed and start over tomorrow, don’t you think?

CJ and Co.

This morning was baby planner CJ’s second session with her very favorite photographer (I laugh when I say that because she was ready for me to leave before I was ready to leave…imagine that!). If she looks familiar, she is! This family is featured on the blog header (look up!).

Sweet newborn CJ was:

and is now…(at a mere 17 pounds!):

ready for her nap:

This one just makes me laugh…It’s her “Are you still here?” face.

Newborn boys and Birthday boys…

One of each this weekend!

Saturday I had the pleasure of joining Alex’s family as he celebrated his first birthday. And as you all know, I love showing ‘before’ and ‘after’ images of these little peanuts as they grow.

Alex’s first session:
and Alex enjoying his birthday cake (complete with his favorite treat-marshmallows!)

Sunday I had the chance to meet a new baby planner, sweet newborn Samuel. At 9 days old he was intensely curious about what was going on, and once he woke he didn’t go back to sleep (though I’m sure he crashed after I left). I did manage to get this of him dozing:

Gabriella

Somehow the past four months have flown by…

and newborn Gabriella

is now such a big girl!

She was an absolute doll this morning-cooperative, adorable, and most crucial: patient… as her mom and I forced her to comply with multiple outfit changes. Kudos to mom for finding this precious tutu:
